                              France  feb.7, 45

 Dear Mom,

Just a line to say hello and let you know that I am ok.  Hope you are all well.  I received the pkg. with the gloves in it  thanks a million.  Someday I will send you something from france.  As soon as I get time.  we have been awful busy since I got back to the Co.  Dick is in England now  had a couple of letters from him.  I dont know much new mom but I still love all of you.  So be good and Ill write more next time if I can.  I had a letter from Mrs. Lee  I will write to her soon.  Well tell everyone hello for me (dont forget to tell Granma) and write often.

         Love Audie

NOTE:  Notice that Audie censored his own letter.

“Dick” is Audie’s younger brother who was serving in the Medical Corps.

Mrs. Lee was Mrs. Haney Lee.  Mr. & Mrs. Lee were older close friends of Audie.  Audie had worked for Haney Lee in 1940.

              "Granma" was Mrs. Cawthon's mother.

Audie had been shot by a sniper and badly wounded in his hip.  His wound had healed and he wrote this about 3 weeks after he returned to his Company.
