A German Luftwaffe (Air Force) Fallschirmjager (Paratrooper) gravity knife.
These were carried by the paratroopers primarily so they could cut the cords
on their chutes should they get hung up in trees. This example was made by
Paul Weyersberg, one of the best known blade makers. They made bayonets
and daggers, also. This is in excellent condition with a couple of small dings in
the handles but one of the few I have seen that has a blade that is unsharpened
and virtually unscratched. The grips are also unusual as they are made of a darker
wood. The grips typically are light in color. I would guess this is a late war
example since the grips don't match closely in color and the blade is not
polished as well as the earlier ones. (SOLD)
