A Model 1917-1918 Trench Knife made by American Cutlery Company (A.C.C.)

in 1917.  This example came with an unmarked leather scabbard which is an

unusual type for this knife, at least in my experience.  In fact, this is the first

example I have seen.  See U.S. Military Knives, Bayonets & Machetes, Book III

by M. H. Cole, page 24.  The condition of this set is extraordinary.  The knife still

has most of the bluing still remaining on the blade.  The name scratched on the back

of the scabbard appears to me to be "tobias".

From what I have been able to find out, this was a WWII issue scabbard for the trench

knife.  Very scarce, I suspect, especially in this condition.
