This is an example of a "dual code" K98k.  The dual codes used receivers

made in one plant and were shipped to and assembled in another plant.

This is a bcd/ar made in 1942.  It is probably the most common of the

dual codes but in uncommon condition.  There were two variations of the

bcd/ar.  The first is this one where the "bcd" is centered on top of the receiver

and the "/ar" was added to the right.  On later examples, the "bcd/ar" was

centered.  Rarely you can find examples of K98ks where the wrong suffix

letter was applied either to the left side of the receiver or to the bolt.  This

is one of those examples.  The receiver has the suffix of "e" and the bolt has

the suffix of "a".  A very advanced German rifle collector/researcher examined

this rifle and stated that it was unquestionably original and correct.
