P.38, byf43 E/L police.  This is the first of the police production from Mauser.

They only made approximately 1200 byf43's before the year change to "44".

All known examples of this pistol are all blued.  Nice finish on this example with

a couple of exceptions.  The grip strap is somewhat thin but looks better than

the picture shows.  Bright light really washes out bluing.  There is a small area

of pitting on the left rear of the slide.  The picture is magnified but when you

have the gun in your hand, you actually have to know it is there is spot it.  I

had a well known dealer look at it and he missed seeing the pitting.  I only

show it so there is no question.  This pistol belongs to a friend and well

known collector, so you will be buying from him.  SOLD
