P.38 HP serial number 2886.  This pistol is a commercial which was made just after what is considered the

undelivered Swedish contract  pistols.  It has the correct early HP magazine which is totally unmarked, the

early checkered grips and round lanyard ring.  This pistol is listed by serial number in Buxton Vol. I.  The

finish on the slide appears very thin in the pictures because of the bright light.  The highly polished slide didn't

hold the blue well.  In the hand, the side of the slide looks to be very nearly the same color as the rest of the

pistol.  Notice that, on these early HPs, the slide serial number is stamped on the underside of the slide at the

rear instead of being stamped on the top of the right slide flat.

The last 2 pictures were taken in natural light.  The first of the two shows the beautiful reflective high polish on

the slide.  The second shows more the true color of the pistol.  It's really amazing how the strong halogen lights I

use wash out the blue color on this example.  I've never seen it quite so apparent before.
