I used the books "Colt .45 Service Pistols, Models of 1911 and 1911A1" by Charles W. Clawson and "U.S. Pistols

& Revolvers 1909-1945" by J.C. Harrison to verify the parts in this pistol.  The "H" appearing on the frame, slide

and barrel stands for Francis L. Hosmer, the Colt civilian inspector from 12/18/11 to 8/15/25.

Inside the frame are the "H" and a "Q".  The "Q" stands for P. M. Quinlan, the one who assembled the pistol.

He was an assembler from serial numbers 101-30300.

Colt Type 1 barrel with the correct sideways "H" with serifs, used from S/N 101 to about 6,500.

The "H" with serifs stamped on the rear of the slide.

Early Colt safety lock tab with the thin tab, used from S/N 1 to 83,856
