This is a P.38 softshell E/F police holster. I was very suspicious of this holster when it was offered to me.  I liked the E/F marking and the fact that the holster was made differently than most P.38 softshell holsters and, also, the leather was much softer than the typical softshell.  I sent this holster to John James, a well recognized expert in the area of holster collecting, who examined it carefully and said, in his opinion, there is no question of its' authenticity.  Notice that the top flap is not stitched to the back like most softshells.  The top flap and back were cut from one piece of leather.
