This is a Mod P.38.  They were apparently having problems with the bluing solutions about this time as they had previously.  The slide flats and the frame have a light plum color.  There is also an unusual slightly wavy streaked grain in the metal on the right side of the slide. What is very unique about this gun is the magazine.  The lower portion of the mag is about the same color as the slide flats.  I've seen plum color (medium to dark red) on the mags but never this almost pink color.
