A bcd (Gustloff-Werke) made in 1944.

It is well known that the Germans were experimenting with and had started to use a phosphate based finish in place of the blued finish that they had traditionally used.  They apparently had seen how well the US parkerized finish held up and wanted to do something similar.  Also, in the process, the phosphate finish was less resource intensive to produce.

This example has a light colored, almost silvery, phosphate on all major parts with just a few minor parts being blued.

The trigger guard and magazine bottom were made by subcontrators that don't seem to show up on this variation very often.

It appears to be a totally original, unfired gun.  Probably captured in the plant or in a shipping crate.
