This is apparently a late war police P.38 holster that was made from a combination of materials.  The front body, flap, closure strap and belt loops are leather.  The back body is a rigid laminated material.  The spare mag pouch appears to be laminated paper similar to some other paper equipment I have.  There is no lift strap and the holster never had one.  The front body is cut so the pistol grip can be grasped more easily.  On the back, between the belt loops, is a rubbed spot.  I suspect this may have been a police eagle that was removed.
