Armor piercing orange tracer made in 1941.  This type of tracer ignites at 100 meters after being fired then burns brightly to 600 meters when it burns out.  This type of ammo was apparently used primarily by the Luftwaffe.  It is also thought that it was used by ground forces as a means of concealing the point of fire.  Box shown is representative.  $20 per box.

15 means the box contains 15 cartridges.

S.m.K. means armor piercing.

L'spur (Leuchtspur or luminous) means tracer.  

100/600 indicates the distance at which the tracer composition burns.

The tracer color is orange.

The second line shows that the cartridge components were assembled by Theodor Bergmann & Co., KG., Velten Plant.  It was their 3rd delivery lot of 1941.

Nz. Gew. Bl. P. means nitro cellulose rifle flaked powder.  (2, 2, 0.45) means the powder particles are 2mm by 2mm by .45 mm.  The powder was made by Deutsche Sprengchemie, Moschwig Plant, delivery lot 35 of 1940.

Patrh. means cartridge case.  It was probably made by Metallwerke Treuenbrietzen (P.25),  delivery lot 1 of 1940.  The S.* means the composition of the brass was 72% copper.

Gesch. means bullet, made by Theodor Bergmann & Co. KG.,  Bernau Plant, delivery lot 8 of 1941.

Gesch.-Teile means the bullet components, probably the armor piercing core.  It was made by the same maker as the bullet.  Delivery lot and date unknown.

Satz means the tracer composition and was made by the same maker as the bullet, 1941, delivery lot unknown.

Zdh. means primer (Zundhutchen), 88 indicates the original type of primer that was introduced in 1888, brass primer cup, corrosive.  Made by D.W.M.,delivery lot 958 of 1940.

The  "P25" means the cartridge case was probably made at Metallwerke Treuenbrietzen.  

40 means it was made in 1940.

The S* means the brass used for the cartridge  case is 72 % copper.

"1" means delivery lot 80 in 1940.

The red primer sealant means it is an armor piercing round.
