This bayonet was originally made by Rich. A. Herder in 1918.  Note the W18 mark on the spine.  The Su.75 acceptance on the bayonet tang and the pommel indicates that it was reworked by the Spandau works who did a lot of arms reworking.  Then the bayonet was sent  to E. Pack & Soehne, reworked, serial numbered and issued in a new, matching serial numbered S/177K coded scabbard in 1934 during the startup of the Third Reich era.  S/177 is the secret code for E. Pack & Soehne. Of interest are the matching assembly number's on the flash guard and both grips.  Also note the down wing 88 acceptance on both grips.   The bayonet tang has an assembly number of 409 and the release button also has a 409 stamped on the underside.  In additional to the historical interest of this bayonet is the fact that it and the scabbard are in excellent condition.
