K98k duv42
This rifle was made by Berlin Lubecker Machinenfabrik in 1942. That was the year
that BLM retooled and started making the new G.41 semi automatic rifle. Since
they only produced K98ks for a portion of the year, duv42s are a little tougher
to find. This example was likely captured before issue. The stock was duffle bag
cut at the front edge of the front band. Also, it appears that the crate the rifle was
shipped in got wet and caused pitting on the barrel behind the front sight. The barrel
on this example was produced by Fabrique Nationale in Belguim which placed
waffenamts of E/140 on the barrel. Also, the barrel has an asterisk stamped on it.
Most collectors feel this means that the barrel was initially rejected but was deemed
repairable.
