This appears to be a die for a German Third Reich destroyer badge. It consists of 4 pieces. I have placed comments above several of the photos. If anyone can give me more information about this item, please email me. EMAIL
This picture shows all 4 pieces assembled
This is an angular view of the 4 pieces. From this view, you can see markings on 2 sides of the bottom or die portion.
This view shows only the top portion.
This view shows the badge die.
This is stamped on the one side of the die. I found a company named Dekora on the Internet. It is located in Augustdorf, Germany if it is the same company who made the die.
This is stamped on another side of the die.
This shows the press guide. It is 2 pieces attached by 6 split pins in the holes that you can see.
This is the top of the press.
This is the face of the press. It has been ground off, I assume, to remove maker information.
Notice how the die has flaked to the right of the eagle and above and to the right of the wreath. The edge of the wreath has been compromised and accounts for the apparent removal of the die from use.
This is the same picture as above with the picture reversed to show the actual orientation of the badge as it was made.
The following pictures are close ups of the die.
In this view, you can clearly see how the die steel has flaked off starting at the edge of the eagle's wing. With a loupe, I can also see some cracks in the steel.
This shows the press guide. It looks like someone practiced their engraving skills. You can also see the split pins which holds the 2 parts of the press guide together.
