I believe this is a very early German commercial P.38 HP holster where they used the P.08 style lift strap. 

The early black 1939 A. Fischer P.38 holsters had the P.08 style closure belt and buckle.

The staining on the back, spare mag pouch and the inside of the back is strange.  The orange thread that

goes through those stains is not stained so I have to assume there was something on the leather prior to

being stitched or there was something in the leather that leached out after being made.  I don't think they

would have made the holster out of leather that had stains on it.

This is the exact holster that was sold in a Rock Island Auction in 2011 and the only example I know of.
