This is a post war svw45 French P.38 that is all phosphate and has metal grips.  For some reason, the French continued to use the svw code into 1946.  Under the left grip is a marking that is unique to the French P.38's.  It resembles a clover leaf.  The meaning is not known.  Also in the picture of the left side of the gun you can see the circled flaming grenade, as Buxton's calls it.  According to him it was the official symbol of a police group, the French Nationale Gendarmerie.
