cyq, serial number 7047y.   This gun would have been made in very early 1945.  It has a cog type hammer and an asterisk on the right side of the slide.  The asterisk indicates that the slide was found to be defective but repairable.  There is also an interesting milling pattern on the barrel just in front of the slide.  It also has the blue wear on the slide from contact with the safety that can be found occasionally on P.38s.
