In 1863 on Rock Island, a Confederate prisoner of war camp was established.  12,000 men were held there during the Civil War.  Of those, 1,950 died while imprisoned.  Below are pictures of the cemetary.   I had hoped to take some pictures of a few of the head stones but it started raining and I couldn't afford to risk getting my camera wet.
